Château du Rivau, a fairytale medieval castle set within a UNESCO world heritage site

The medieval castle Château du Rivau, its royal stables and its fairytale gardens are happy to welcome you from April 1st to November 11th each year.

With its majestic keep and its forbidding drawbridge, the Château du Rivau is a true fairytale castle, with enchanting gardens directly inspired by medieval tales and folklore.

Although magical creatures have today taken over the gardens and made a home out of them, this fairytale castle and its Renaissance stables also bears witness to great historical figures such as Joan of Arc and Rabelais. Visit Château du Rivau and discover not only a genuine medieval castle at the heart of a UNESCO world heritage site, but also botanical arts, contemporary sculptures and a peaceful restaurant (open from April 1st to September 30th) serving local specialities and produce from our own gardens.
